The 1961 uses an inline metal can type fuel filter at the inlet of the carburettor that is connected to the metal fuel line and the carb inlet with 2" long rubber hoses bearing the word "gas." The fuel pump with the screw on white or red metal filter unit hanging off the bottom of the fuel pump was a feature that was introduced for the 1962 model year Thunderbirds. The use of that style fuel pump with integral screw on filter on a 1961 Thunderbird is inappropriate and would result in the loss of a point in a concours judged Thunderbird show.
