Tips on Drip Rail Trim Removal

Some time ago a fellow called me because he needed a driver's side
drip rail stainless trim piece for his hardtop - he had either lost
the piece or destroyed it in the process of trying to remove it.

I decided to give it a shot removing them (practiced on the passenger
side first) and was able to realize some success.

Here is what you need:

Flat head screwdriver
Heatgun/hairdryer

And... here is what you need to do (this is entirely from best
recollection):

The stainless steel piece is actually glued onto the steel drip
rail edge, so you need to use heat to break down the adhesive before
doing some careful prying.
The shape of the trim is such that the upper edge curls around
just a little bit to clip onto the steel.
By heating the stainless (it will expand a little from the heat,
making it easier to remove), start near the front of the car and work
your way back.
Make sure to pry the trim away from the top edge and you should be
able to get it removed without causing any damage.

This will take a certain amount of patience. I was able to get both
pieces off the car without harm done.

Best of luck!
